Theme: The Importance of Music in Dementia Care
Welcome to Dementia Awareness. Please join us and other dementia organisations in raising awareness of dementia in our society, while the experts continue to research better care for people living with the condition, as well as better support for those caring for them. We also hope to use this time, to remind us that dementia affects nearly 920,000 people in the UK alone, over 55 million people worldwide, and that the numbers are rising. It is critical that we continue to raise dementia awareness, especially in light of the events of the last few years. The pandemic (Covid-19 outbreak) affected everyone, but especially people with dementia, and the full impact on this group is yet unknown. To encourage our friends and families to seek help if there are unexplained changes in our loved ones’ behaviour and presentation, we must break down the isolation barriers and stigma associated with dementia. Early detection is critical in dementia care, and we all want to be more #DementiaAware.
We continue to talk about dementia, this time emphasising the importance of music in dementia care. We hope you can join us to learn more about dementia and how music can help when caring for someone who has dementia. We will discuss the various types of dementia, some symptoms of dementia, and what happens after a dementia diagnosis. You will learn more about the activities designed to assist people living with dementia as well as their caregivers. You will also learn what constitutes a dementia-friendly environment, how to locate the best dementia care facility for your loved one, and much more. This ongoing event will start on;
Start Date: Sunday, 11th September, 2022
Sunday, 25th September
End Date: Sunday, 9th October
Time: 6.30 – 7pm (All dates)

We are excited to welcome as many of you as possible. Come learn more about dementia by joining us. Early detection is critical for supporting a loved one with dementia. Help is available; seek it out, and we can assist you from the initial stages of a diagnosis to locating appropriate support for your loved one.
DECEW and the entire team would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has assisted the organisation during this trying time, especially during the pandemic. We appreciate your unwavering support and look forward to continuing it. We want to break down even more barriers and reach out to more people, especially those from black minority ethnic communities.
