WHAT IS DEMENTIA? An ongoing discussion…

Welcome to Dementia Awareness.  Please join us and other dementia organisations in raising awareness of dementia in our society, while the experts continue to research better care for people living with the condition, as well as better support for those caring for them.  We also hope to use this time, to remind us that dementia affects nearly 920,000 people in the UK alone, over 55 million people worldwide, and that the numbers are rising.  It is critical that we continue to raise dementia awareness, especially in light of the events of the last few years. The pandemic (Covid-19 outbreak) affected everyone, but especially people with dementia, and the full impact on this group is yet unknown. To encourage our friends and families to seek help if there are unexplained changes in our loved ones’ behaviour and presentation, we must break down the isolation barriers and stigma associated with dementia. Early detection is critical in dementia care, and we all want to be more #DementiaAware.

We continue to have a conversation about dementia and hope that you will join us one day to learn more about dementia, the different types of dementia, the process of diagnosing dementia, who diagnoses dementia, and what happens after a dementia diagnosis. You will learn more about the activities designed specifically to help people living with dementia and their caregivers too. You will also learn what makes a dementia-friendly environment, how to find a dementia care facility that is right for your loved one, and a lot more. This ongoing event will commence on;
