What are the Tiers in England?

There are currently four tiers which are described as Tier 1: Medium alert, Tier 2: High alert, Tier 3: Very High alert and Tier 4: Stay at Home alert, and all areas of the country, are placed in one of these tiers. In England for example, Tier 3 means restaurants and pubs must close and only offer take away and delivery services while venues such as theatres, bowling alleys and cinemas are to remain shut. Latest government announcement is that twenty million of the population in England has been added to the toughest tier restrictions.

For full description of the Tier systems in the United Kingdom and local restriction tiers, visit the UK government website, www.gov.uk/guidance. Information can also be found on the NHS website.
